Community Garden

As of this writing, our new shed should be in place at the garden. Yahoo! A huge thanks to George Weaver and his elves for creating this wonderful gift! Please feel free to send him a note at geweaver@surf1.ws

There are so many people to thank for going beyond the normal course of volunteering. Moh, Quinn and their lovely daughter not only designed the five flower beds in the communal garden but also donated and planted them! What a beautiful addition to the garden. Thanks so much!

Laurie Huston has been actively getting donations for the garden and we have a garden sculpture coming from a friend of hers. She has also made donation jars and has them out at her store. You go girl!

Millie continues to be ever vigilant in making sure the garden gets watered. A continued thanks to you for all your time and effort.

And a collective thanks to all for your random acts of kindness in subbing for those who are unable to tend to their plots and pulling up those pesky weeds as you see them and all who have generously donated plants to help fill those empty spaces with beauty.

There’s more to come. We still have a bulletin board and compost bin going up thanks to Marc Vroman. Step by step we are making this happen thanks to everyone involved.
There are a couple of things we could use some immediate help with. Please contact Pat (Mary Catherine & Gaea will be out of town) if you are able to help with the following:

  • Mowing: Ree Clark has volunteered the use of her lawn mower. It needs to be picked up and returned after use. She lives at 1508 Westwood Dr. As you go into Westwood on Hwy 2 veer to the left to find her house. Her phone number is 265-4943. We have yet been able to get a mower that we can keep at the garden, but we’re working on it.
  • STI Picnic: On Sunday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m. Sandpoint Transition Initiative is throwing a Picnic at the Community Garden. We invite all to come play, bring food, music, games, and friends to help celebrate all the wonderful projects that the STI Groups are involved in.
