Parks & Rec Application

For New Instructors

Thanks you for your interest in partnering with Sandpoint Parks and Recreation to teach a program or activity.  In the process of getting started please feel free to contact us at any time.  Phone: 263 3613 or email us at recreation@ci.sandpoint.id.us .  We also welcome any private or public opportunities or programs to contact us so that we can help inform the public as a central clearing house.   Below is some information you should know as you get started and below that is some information we need from you.

Most Park and Recreation (P&R)  programs are run on a 40/6- split between PR and the instructor. The 40% retained by the P&R covers:

1. Employer paid benefits: these are benefits for employees.  This expense accords for approximately 12%. As an employee you are covered under the City of Sandpoint  general liability insurance for city-sponsored programs.  We also welcome partnerships with established businesses. If you have a legitimate business (business ID#) then we could explore changing the percentage and adding employer paid benefits to the side of the business.   In doing so, all City of Sandpoint liability would not be available (we only cover our own employees)>

2. Program Listing in our  P & R activity booklet: This booklet is made available twice a ear to the public on line @ www.cityofsandpoint.com it is distributed throughout the public and private schools K – 12, it is distributed by the Daily bee in one of the Saturday editions and is available year round at the office.

3. Direct email promotions: an electronic email goes out to our online newsletter recipients two weeks in advance off a program detaining specific program information, where and when to register, and how much the class costs.

4. Printed and Radio Promotion: this same promotion goes out to the KPND community calendar and the Daily Bee community calendar 2 weeks before the program is scheduled to start.

5. Flyers: if you would like to have a flyer detaining your program we can also help you with that. We have desktop publishing software and expertise.

6. Money and paperwork administration: P&R takes care of all the registration fees and can also furnish you with a class list before the class starts if you desire one.

7. Facility: if necessary we can sometimes help you with a location for your program e.g., the Community Hall.

8. Payment: paychecks are sent out on  scheduled paydays – the 15th and last day of each month.
